

ABOUT
JOHN WAMSLEY is...
an Indigenous actor,
social media specialist, community manager,
and graphic designer.
John Wamsley is of Ojibwe and British-settler descent, and a member of the Alderville First Nation. He is a graduate of the Theatre and Drama Studies Program at the University of Toronto Mississauga and Sheridan College.

In 2022, John made his Stratford Festival debut, originating the role of Jean Delorme in 1939. He returned to the Stratford stage in 2023, starring in Richard II, Grand Magic and Love's Labour's Lost. He has also worked with Canadian Stage, the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope, The Grand Theatre, Native Earth Performing Arts, and Shakespeare BASH'd.
Recent Film and TV credits include Rubble & Crew (Treehouse TV), Sheriff Country (CBS), Masterpiece (Being There Films), Doomlands (Roku), Open Up (Button Soup Pictures), Revenge of the Black Best Friend (CBC), and Save the Date (Water Sign Productions), among others.​
Outside of acting, John has worked as a Social Media Specialist and Community Manager for the Departure Festival + Conference, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Outside the March, Pride Toronto and Paprika Festival, and has completed the Social Media Marketing program at George Brown College Continuing Education.
